THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST IN YOU

REJECT FUTILE SAYINGS TO LIVE LIFE

LIVE448

We may be urged to ‘keep close to Jesus.’ We are encouraged to ask, ‘What would Jesus do?’ Often we are told to ‘Receive Christ.’
ONE WITH YOU
Firstly, Jesus is in us and with us. So, we are as close at it is possible to be. Secondly Jesus is not outside and independent of us. He is part of us. Sure, He is a distinct person but He is incarnated into our being, so that if we are living this truth, we will know what Jesus would do. It’s called being in the Spirit .. of Christ.
COME TO ME
There’s some truth about ‘Receiving Christ.’ Jesus does offer an invitation. ‘Come to me all you you are heavily burdened and I will give you rest.’ This is not only rest from the burdens of life and relief from the fear of poverty and disease. It is primarily rest from
self-justification.  You need not obsess with vindicating your-self or building for yourself an easy definition of righteousness composed of a denominational icon or two.*  Just agree with Christ that He has included you in His life.
The reality is that YOU HAVE BEEN RECEIVED INTO HIS LIFE.
The error in the first paragraph is that our relationship with Jesus depends on us. According to these veils, it is our work and our responsibility to have a decent relationship with Christ, which is the most subtle legalism of them all. Why? Because Christ’s relationship with Father is yours.
LIVE FROM WHERE GOD HAS POSITIONED YOU
Oneness with Jesus is your starting point. God has placed you in Himself in His Son. Morrison following Torrance puts it right way up. “
The “decision” the Gospel calls us to consider is therefore not our own decision about God, but it is God’s decision about us, since it is Jesus Christ who has joined Himself to us in the incarnation. When Torrance talks about union with God as the goal of the Gospel, he is not discussing anything that we decide to achieve in ourselves; this is the decision God has made for us.” (1)
 A SABBATH REST
Our Sabbath rest in God has much more to do with agreeing with what God has done for us and living in this reality of peace and rest that earning fellowship with God. It has been earned but not by you.
JESUS – REST FOR HUMAN RESTLESSNESS
‘Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come.  So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.  For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labours, just as God did after creating the world.  So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall’ Heb 4.8-11 NLT.
LIVE IN THE TRUTH
An imagined state of separation is a ruse of the devil and an illusion generated by poor teaching.
‘Rest for human restlessness’ is found in Jesus and nowhere else. We are always close to Jesus because Jesus has come in our flesh. We may respond to Christ’s invitation but He has already received us into His life. We can know what Jesus would do because Jesus is in us and with us and has become part of us. We have the mind of Christ.
* We can make our own Messiah out of building our selective version of the law.
